Trenton Speedway Pictorial Souvenir Program, 100-Mile National Championship Race

Trenton, NJ: 1959. 4to measuring 11 x 8.5 inches. Saddle-stitched with pictorial wrappers. Wrappers lightly soiled; two sheets neatly excised and laid in. Good.

Cover dated April 12. Rain stopped time trials that day and the race was postponed until April 19.

Scored in pencil by a spectator: Time trial page filled out in full, Branson's record run starred, leader chart kept at 10-lap intervals until the red flag at 87 laps, "Rathman told Branson to pass. Branson hit Rathman. Linder hit Branson and flipped." Linder marked killed.

Dick Linder, 36, of Pittsburgh, died that afternoon. The AP reported that Rathman signalled Branson past and that Branson's car then struck his. Rathman denied that night that his car had been touched. The spectator recorded the contact as it happened.
